The “thinning” in forestry has been always an environmental issue to human beings. We intend to realize a pavilion-like small-scale architecture only by wasted thinned materials found in the forest. This is an architecture attaining minimum required function while being an experimental space like the modern “azumaya” (arbour or folly in English) architecture features the accuracy of the material produced in “Kisyu” - strength of the material has been recognized as excellent in bending and compression (thinning). The basic sizes of the material - 38 x 89mm, 45 x 89mm, 51 x 89mm are stacked and screwed according to its strength quality. The shafts of the sunlight coming through the gaps between the stacked wood modularized in 90mm throughout the walls and roof, achieves space of varying expression. The new construction method revealed in this architecture, proves the ability of construction without using any heavy equipment but merely by human strength, even in a small community inside a high-density urban area. We believe that this new architecture in thinned woods - that has been poor in utilization, encourage the re-establishment of unbalanced natural environment carried by the human activities, rather than commending the deforestation.
